FUNNY EXPERIENCE WITH A CORRUPT OFFICIAL

After successfully contesting a claim and orders in favour, I got a surprise call from the official concerned who has passed the order.  He intimated that a retired HC Judge requires assistance from an Advocate and asked me to accompany him to his house.  Since it was my first encounter of such kind, I obliged.  I visited the official's rented residence (at that area, he must have been paying 90% salary towards House-rent alone!!!).  He said that judge's house is at so & so area which was nearby. I asked him to sit in my motorcycle as a pillion rider.  With his fatty belly, he was unable to climb onto it!  I moved the bike to a nearby platform and assisted him to park himself on the bike. I rode the vehicle like a teen-ager with his girlfriend!!  Not spared a single speed-breaker and I tried to go as fast I could in the narrow lanes purposely.    I could hear his faint chanting of mantras !!! (This experience caused inconvenience to him and while returning he said that he will walk!!)

After reaching the judge's home (he was not a HC Judge, but a District Judge retired from a lucrative court from the extreme southern part of Tamil Nadu.  The House was marvelous.  Even a retired SC Judge or Minister cannot have such a house in such a locality.   Judge was not at home.  It was a year-end, hence the Judge went to make courtesy visits to HC judges, I was told.  Then, the official informed that the judge's son-in-law is an unemployed engineer and wants a placement.  Since I was a Legal Adviser to a Software company, he suggested that the son-in-law be placed over there.  I politely told him that the company may not be suitable for him since it is a smaller one.  But, he insisted that he needs it, because the company is located nearby!  Then I asked him submit the resume through e-mail, but, the official insisted that I collect the resume personally, too.  Thereafter he called the son-in-law to the hall where we were seated.   A guy with around 5 lakhs worth jeweller on his body made an entry.  When I saw his resume, I hardly could control my laugh.  So many spelling mistakes (Even the place of his college was misspelled!).  I presumed he paid for the degree.  I was so annoyed that this official has cheated me by saying that a Judge needs assistance and never uttered about the job.  I was wondering what connection this official could have got from the Judge.  Then I realised that this chap was recently transferred from Delhi and judge could have helped him to gain the transfer.  I asked them to drop an email to the concerned HR Manager and I will also inform him personally.

As is the norms with corporate HR person, they never listen to anyone (and in this case, I didn't want also!!), I informed the company's director regarding the obligation sought by the official and said that I am not favouring it.  Director said that for 'eye-wash' let the person be interviewed.  I informed the HR Manager (who himself rose from a mere Programmer to the HR post, funny thing with the company was they hire anyone if the person is looking good and speaks english well.  There was a HR Executive I was told that he went to sell some books to the Director and he was hired for his English.  Later when the chap started downloading pornography he was fired!).   I asked the HR chap to make the interview so tough.  After the interview, the HR person said that he sincerely doubted as to how this person has passed Xth Standard.  I told him, 'money does wonders, and he is now son-in-law of a Judge who needs employment just for time-pass!'.  HR sent a 'regret' letter.

The official stopped talking with me (spoke to me only 3-4 times regarding the job) and when I visited the office after several months, his higher official was arrested by CBI for bribery and amassing wealth.  This official got her position !!!

Democracy!!!!
